Mohammad Elshareif

A Palestinian visual artist and medical laboratory specialist from Gaza, born in Jabalia Refugee Camp in 1965. A self-taught artist, he is known for his unique technique of pyrography—burning images onto wood and enhancing them with dyes and heat-applied colors. His work reflects deep themes of land, identity, and heritage. Elshareif has exhibited widely in Palestine and internationally, including solo and duo exhibitions such as “What the Earth Says” (2017) and “Jerusalem, Salt of the Earth” (2017).

He has participated in major group exhibitions like “Lovers of the Land”, “The Road to Jerusalem” (2016–2017), the Gaza Second Contemporary Art Exhibition, and “Palestine: A Story and a Color” in Sarajevo, Istanbul, and Nablus. His international presence includes shows in Kuwait, Russia (7th International Russian Exhibition), Syria (Afro-Asian Cultural Forum), Spain (Artists Without Borders), and Germany (Berlin Artists Association). He was featured in “Continuous Act” at the 3rd Gaza Festival of Contemporary Visual Arts. Alongside his artistic career, he heads the medical laboratory department at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society – Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center in Gaza.

Elshareif lost nearly all of his artworks during the recent genocidal war on Gaza, as his home and studio were completely destroyed.
